Check in with an emoji when words feel heavy, keep a private journal and see your patterns over time. And when a pattern suggests you're struggling, your support system can reach out to you, so you don't have to be the one to ask.

“I'm fine. Just tired.”

“It's probably nothing.”

“I'll mention it next week.”

Support is not always there at the moment someone first needs it.

People can look fine while struggling underneath, and formal support can take time to reach. Difficult emotions don't wait for an appointment.

Difficult thoughts do not respect waiting lists.

DOPE works alongside professional support. It isn't a crisis service.

Instead of you having to reach out for help, help reaches out to you.

  1. At your lowest, reaching out is the hardest step

People often go quiet exactly when they most need someone. “I'm fine” is easier to say than “I'm not”.

  2. So you check in instead, with an emoji

Words can be heavy. Emojis based on the wheel of emotions help you find something close to what you feel, without explaining yourself to anyone.

  3. A pattern becomes visible

One hard day is part of life. DOPE looks for something different: a sustained change across your check-ins.

  4. And help reaches out to you

With your consent, your support system gets a gentle nudge to check in on you. You don't have to find the words first.

Support-system notifications are consent-based prompts, not clinical predictions. They can be wrong, so they never replace emergency help. Urgent support

The DOPE App is currently designed for people aged 16 and over.

How DOPE works

A few seconds a day, in your own words, with the people you chose close by.

Five steps, in your own time

  1. Check in

Tap the emoji closest to how you feel. No need to find the words, and a gentle reminder can prompt you.

  2. Reflect and journal

Add a few private words about what happened. Writing it down often makes it clearer.

  3. Notice patterns

Your trend graph shows how your mood has moved, so a gradual change is easier to see than it is from day to day.

  4. Find what helps

After a check-in, DOPE suggests simple next steps, calming sounds and support information.

  5. Stay connected

Build a support system of people you trust. With your consent, DOPE lets them know when a pattern suggests you might welcome a check-in.

When words are heavy, start with an emoji

Many of us, young people especially, struggle to name what we feel, and saying “I need help” can feel impossible.

So DOPE lets you check in with emojis based on the wheel of emotions used in psychology. You pick the one closest to how you feel. It's quick, it's easier to be honest, and over time your check-ins become a mood chart you can actually read.

Your Circle: support system, SOS contacts and therapists. Contact details blurred.

Your Circle, your rules

Your Circle has three tabs. Support system is the people you add. SOS contacts are UK emergency and suicide-prevention helplines, one tap away. Therapists is coming in a future release.

  • You choose. Your support system is whoever you trust: a sibling, trusted friend, teacher, parent, mentor or carer. Only people you add are in it.
  • You stay in control. Add, change or remove people at any time. Each person you add gets a text letting them know you trust them.
  • You consent. Support-system notifications only happen if you turn them on.
  • It looks at change over time. Not a single low mood, and not your journal text.
  • It can be wrong. A notification is a prompt to connect, not a clinical prediction. It may miss things, or reach out when you are fine.
  • Organisations are never added. No employer, university, gym or partner is ever placed in your Circle.

We're also creating short trainings and articles for support systems, so the people you add know what to do and understand their role. In development

A journal only you can open

Write it down, or say it out loud with a voice journal. Either way, your journals sit behind their own passcode, and you can unlock them with your fingerprint. Nobody else can read them: not your support system, and never an employer, university or partner.

You can also view your data and its history, or delete your account and all its data, from Account Management.

My Journals, locked: enter a passcode or tap the fingerprint icon to unlock your journals.

Future feature: wearables

How you sleep and how much you move often shape how you feel.

We're building an optional smartwatch integration. If your heart rate rises sharply while you're resting, with no workout to explain it, DOPE could gently check in: “How are you doing right now?” Moments like this can be a sign of stress or panic, and noticing them early matters.

From there, DOPE could suggest something that helps, such as a breathing or grounding exercise, reaching out to your support system or, if you tell us you're in danger, calling emergency services. Heart rate, sleep and activity can also add context to your mood patterns.

  • Off unless you switch it on. You choose the device and the signals, and can disconnect at any time.
  • A check-in, never a diagnosis. A watch can't tell a panic attack from excitement or a flight of stairs, so DOPE asks you rather than assumes, and never calls anyone on its own.
  • Never shared with organisations. Like your journal and moods, it stays yours.

DOPE strengthens the space around the support you already provide.

For universities, colleges, employers, charities and membership bodies that want their people to reflect sooner, find support more easily and stay connected between formal conversations.

Discuss an Institutional Pilot

You already have support in place. Good.

Counselling, EAPs, mental-health first aiders and safeguarding teams provide professional care. DOPE doesn't replace them. It adds everyday reflection, earlier awareness of changing patterns, trusted connection and better visibility of the services you already fund.

“We already have a wellbeing service.”

That's exactly where DOPE adds value: supporting people between formal interactions, and pointing them back to you. Your professional, safeguarding and emergency pathways remain essential.

  1. Everyday check-ins and reflection
  2. Earlier awareness of a changing pattern
  3. Relevant resources and trusted people
  4. Signposting to your existing support
  5. Professional or urgent support when it's needed
An illustrative pathway, not a guaranteed or mandatory sequence. People can reach professional or urgent support at any point.

Why we built DOPE

Too many people seem fine right up until they're not, and asking for help is hardest exactly when it matters most. We started with research: surveys across age groups, walks of life, students and ethnic backgrounds, analysed alongside conversations with people and experts, and street interviews. The DOPE App is developed by CyberPhorm Ltd, whose work brings cybersecurity and wellbeing technology together, so privacy and security decide what the product does and doesn't do.

What we won't do

  • Claim to diagnose or predict anything with certainty
  • Let organisations or partners see personal wellbeing data
  • Put safety features behind a paywall
  • Publish numbers, partners or outcomes we can't evidence

A live product, a real community and a clear plan for what comes next

Most wellbeing tools wait for people to ask for help. DOPE is built so help can reach out to them: consent-based support-system notifications turn a recognised pattern into a timely check-in from someone they trust.

Questions, answered plainly

Organised by who's asking.

All questions

General

What is The DOPE App?

An emotional-wellbeing app. You check in with emojis that help you name how you feel, keep a private journal, see your mood patterns over time and build a Circle of support. When a pattern suggests you're struggling, the people you trust can reach out to you.

Who is it for?

The DOPE App is currently designed for people aged 16 and over. Universities, colleges, employers, charities and membership organisations can also offer it to their people.

Is DOPE available now?

Yes. The DOPE App is live on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and we keep improving it.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone, through the Apple App Store, and Android phones, through Google Play. Each store listing shows the minimum operating-system version.

Is DOPE a replacement for therapy?

No. DOPE does not provide therapy, counselling or clinical care, and it does not diagnose anything. It is designed to sit alongside professional support, helping you reflect and stay connected between appointments or before you are ready to ask for help.

Is DOPE an emergency service?

No. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. If you need urgent help that is not an emergency, use NHS 111. The app also includes emergency helplines.

Is there a free version?

Yes. The app is free to download, and everything in it today is free. Rise, our premium tier, will add deeper insights, programmes and personalisation for £4.99 a month or £39.99 a year. Mood check-ins, reaching your contacts, support-system notifications and emergency information will always stay free.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Account Management and choose Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and all its data. If you need help, email hello@thedopeapp.com.

Privacy and your Circle

Is my journal private?

Yes. Your journals, written or recorded as voice notes, sit behind their own passcode, so even someone holding your unlocked phone can't open them, and you can unlock them with your fingerprint instead. They are not shared with your support system, and no employer, university, gym or partner can read them.

Can an organisation read my mood entries?

No. If your access is provided by an organisation, it sees licence and carefully aggregated usage information only. It cannot see your moods, journal, trends, Circle contacts or any notifications about you.

Who can be in my Circle?

Your Circle has three parts. Your support system is the people you choose and trust, such as a sibling, trusted friend, teacher, parent, mentor or carer; each gets a text when you add them. SOS contacts are UK emergency and suicide-prevention helplines such as Samaritans. Therapists are coming in a future release. Nobody is added to your support system for you, and an organisation is never added.

When could a Circle notification be sent?

Only if you have turned it on. When you're struggling, reaching out is often the hardest step, so DOPE can do that part for you: when an established pattern in your check-ins suggests you might benefit from support, it lets someone in your Circle know so they can check in. It looks at change over time rather than a single entry. It is a prompt to connect, not a clinical judgement, and it can be wrong in either direction, so please never rely on it in an emergency.

Can I change or remove people in my support system?

Yes. You are in control of your support system: add, change or remove people in your Circle at any time.

Does DOPE diagnose mental-health conditions?

No. DOPE does not diagnose conditions or predict crises. It helps you notice patterns in how you have been feeling and connect with support.

How is my information protected?

DOPE is built by a team with a cybersecurity background. Your journals are locked behind a passcode or fingerprint, organisations and partners never receive your personal wellbeing information, and you can view your data and its history, or delete your account, from inside the app. Our privacy policy explains how data is handled in detail.

Organisations

We already have a wellbeing department. Why would we need DOPE?

That is exactly where DOPE can add value. It is not designed to compete with counselling or support teams. It gives people an everyday way to reflect, points them to the support you already provide, and helps them stay connected between formal interactions. Your professional, safeguarding and emergency pathways remain essential.

How does DOPE complement our current support?

Everyday check-ins can help someone notice a change sooner. From there, calming resources, trusted people and your own services are easier to reach. This is an illustrative pathway, not a clinical process, and nobody is required to follow it.

How do licences work?

Organisations buy an annual licence for an eligible population, in bands. We report each licence as purchased, allocated, activated and monthly active, so you can see exactly what is being used. Talk to us for pricing.

What can administrators see?

Licence and subscription status, activation and utilisation, approved programme engagement and aggregated adoption information. Groups smaller than 10 people are suppressed. Administrators never see individual moods, journals, trends, Circle contacts or notifications, and nobody is ranked by wellbeing.

Can we run a pilot?

Yes. We are preparing institutional pilots and will scope one around your population, your existing support and your privacy and safeguarding review.

Can our existing support resources appear in DOPE?

Surfacing an organisation's approved resources, such as wellbeing contacts, EAP details or counselling booking links, is part of the organisation product we are building. We will confirm what is available when we scope your pilot.

How is onboarding managed?

We work through discovery, a review of your existing support, licence scope, privacy and safeguarding review, pilot configuration, launch, adoption review and refinement.

What happens when licence demand changes?

We let you know as usage reaches 80%, 90% and 100% of your licence, agree a fair next step together, and never switch off anyone's safety features.

Partners and investors

What partnership models are available?

Member discounts, shared subsidy, fully sponsored access, revenue share and fixed campaign bundles. Most partnerships start with a time-limited member discount so both sides can measure results.

Can a gym offer DOPE to its members?

Yes. A gym, sports organisation or membership body can give eligible members discounted or sponsored premium access. The partner sees offer and conversion performance, never anyone's wellbeing information.

What is the difference between DOPE Pass and DOPE+ Partner?

With DOPE Pass, members get premium access at a discount. With DOPE+ Partner, the partner funds or co-funds premium access so members receive it included or at a reduced contribution.

How can we discuss a strategic partnership?

Use the contact form and choose Strategic partnership, or email hello@thedopeapp.com.

How can an investor request further information?

Use the contact form and choose Investor, or email hello@thedopeapp.com. Investment conversations are subject to due diligence, eligibility, legal documentation and appropriate professional advice.

Website privacy notice

This notice covers this website. The app has its own privacy policy, shown in the app and on its store listings.

What we collect. This website sends nothing to a server. If you choose to play a video, it is loaded from TikTok, which receives the usual technical information and may set cookies under its own privacy policy. If you email us, including through the contact or updates forms, which open your own email app, we receive your email address and what you write. Please don't include health information.

Why, and our lawful basis. We reply to enquiries on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us. We send update emails only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by replying “unsubscribe”.

Sharing and retention. We never sell your information, and nothing you send us is connected to any account in the app. Enquiries are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, unless they lead to a contract. Subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe.

Photographs from our events. Notices are displayed at our events, and we ask permission for photographs taken on our own camera. If you appear in a photograph and would like it removed, email us and we'll take it down.

Your rights. You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to its use or withdraw consent. Email hello@thedopeapp.com with the subject “Privacy request”. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Website terms of use

Content on this website is general information, not medical, clinical, legal or financial advice. DOPE is not an emergency service: if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. Features, plans and pricing may change. Nothing on this website is an offer of securities or a financial promotion. The DOPE name, logo, head icon, text and images belong to CyberPhorm Ltd or its licensors. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Accessibility statement

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA: semantic structure with a skip link, full keyboard access with visible focus, checked colour contrast, descriptive alternative text, labelled form fields with announced errors, a reduced-motion experience, layouts that work at 200% zoom, and no autoplaying media or flashing content. If something doesn't work for you, email hello@thedopeapp.com with the subject “Accessibility”. We aim to reply within five working days.

Cookies

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking. Nothing is stored on your device unless you choose to play a video: the player then loads from TikTok, which may set its own cookies.
